Evidentiary Concepts for ASL Legal Interpreters
Starting October 17th, 2026!
Live Online Training
This course is designed to bring clarity to interpreters working in trial settings with deaf participants. Understanding the interplay of the rules of evidence is critical to the effective transfer of meaning between two languages. The session will present a matrix of common objections with real world examples of how the rules are implemented. Participants will analyze actual samples of authentic courtroom discourse, classify evidentiary elements, and discuss patterns to assist in teamwork and staffing. Hands-on activities will allow participants to apply theory to practice.
