AI and the Interpreter’s Edge: Skills for the Modern Workflow
Live Online Monthly Webinar
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the language services landscape—and interpreters who understand how to work alongside these tools will be better equipped for today’s evolving demands. This two-part webinar series is designed to demystify AI, clarify its real capabilities, and show interpreters exactly how to integrate these technologies into their professional workflow.
Part 1: AI Basics for Interpreters
In this two-hour session, participants will explore the basics of generative artificial intelligence, with a focus on how it can be integrated into the practice of interpretation. We’ll begin by examining real-world examples of AI-powered language tools. Through live demonstrations and guided practice, interpreters will learn how large-language models (LLMs) and generative AI function, where they stand in today’s workflow, and what common misconceptions to watch for.
By the end of the webinar, attendees will have a clear understanding of:
The basic features in generative AI chatbots
Prompting fundamentals and expected limitations
Practical scenarios in which generative AI can support research, terminology extraction, pre-assignment preparation, and practice
Part 2: Beyond the Basics: ASR and Advanced AI Tools for Interpreters
Building on the foundations established in the first session, this two-hour workshop dives into specialized applications and emerging technologies that are reshaping the interpreting field. We’ll survey automatic speech recognition (ASR) apps and platforms and computer-assisted interpreting (CAI) solutions, which can augment both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting workflows.
Through hands-on demonstrations and guided practice, participants will:
Learn about leading ASR engines
Explore CAI environments that combine terminology management, real-time transcription, and machine translation previews
Identify practical use cases for post-assignment review, quality assurance, and continuing education (e.g., using AI to generate glossaries or to self-evaluate interpreting recordings)
Step into the future of interpreting with this two-part webinar series. From mastering AI basics to exploring advanced ASR and CAI tools, you’ll discover how to make technology work for you—not against you. 👉 Reserve your spot today and future-proof your interpreting skills!
