Course Description

Are you ready to become a federally certified interpreter? We can help you take the first big step: passing your English Written Exam. Join us for this 4-session class designed to prepare you to take the written portion of the Federal Court Interpreter Certification Exam.

This LIVE ONLINE course has a total of 6 contact hours and runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8pm - 9:30pm ET.

Students will be able to interact with their teacher and classmates in an online environment via a user-friendly software. All classes will be recorded and made available to the students within 24 hours as a reviewing resource for catching up or self-study sessions. If you have never taken an online class before, don’t worry! We host a separate orientation to make sure everyone is comfortable with accessing the course and to answer any questions.

- Access to class recordings and resources for up to 6 weeks after the last session

FL: 7.2 CIE credits.

 DE, IA, KY, MD, MI, MS: Student must submit course information to state.

Instructor

James Plunkett

James Plunkett is a nationally-known interpreter instructor. He also trains new judges and court staff on how to work with court interpreters. He is certified by the AOUSC as a Spanish and English court interpreter. He is a rater for a national credentialing program for interpreters. He has worked as a court interpreter for the 13th Judicial Circuit in Florida and as the Coordinator of Interpreting Services and Language Access Program for the District of Columbia Courts. He speaks and trains at state court interpreter programs nationwide and through online teaching platforms. He holds a BA degree in General Social Studies from Providence College.  He was raised in Lima, Peru. He also communicates in Portuguese, some French and basic American Sign Language.
