Perfect for bilingual individuals of any language pair, this program fulfills the 40-hour education requirement for both NBCMI and CCHI, preparing you to confidently begin your certification journey. 

In this redesigned hybrid format, students alternate each week between 10 live online classes and 16 self-paced modules, allowing them to build their interpreting skills in real time while reinforcing core concepts through structured independent study. All self-paced modules include video lessons taught by your live instructor, paired with textbook chapters and a comprehensive workbook that guides learning, boosts retention, and supports hands-on practice.  

The self-paced modules walk students through the foundational knowledge every medical interpreter needs, including U.S. healthcare system, roles of the medical interpreter, standards of practice & code of ethics, certification pathways, medical terminology, and much more! 

This integrated approach allows students to strengthen their interpreting skills while building the theoretical knowledge they need to succeed. Meet the Instructor

Eliane Sfeir-Markus

Eliane Sfeir-Markus, CHI, is an experienced interpreter, trainer, and industry leader fluent in Arabic, English, and French. She is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter and court-certified interpreter in Pennsylvania and Delaware. As an Interpreter Expert), Eliane advises on industry standards, develops training materials, and provides guidance on interpreting ethics and best practices. Additionally, as an Adjunct Professor at Widener University Delaware Law School, Eliane teaches court and medical interpreting and foundational interpreting skills. Eliane is also a trainer with De La Mora Institute, where she co-designed and teaches a "Train the Trainer" course. She offers training in medical and court interpreting and webinars on professional development topics like cultural intelligence. She is a certified John Maxwell Leadership coach and speaker.

    Everyone is welcome to enroll in this class. The only pre-requisite is that you are bilingual!
