Course Description

DE LA MORA's Signature Court Interpreter Program is an intensive 13.5-hour course carefully crafted to empower aspiring court interpreters in overcoming the multifaceted challenges presented by the State Oral Exam.

The program goes beyond the basics, offering a deeper exploration of techniques and strategies uniquely formulated to meet the rigorous standards set by the State Oral Exam. Through practical application and real-world scenarios, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges they may encounter, enabling them to emerge not just as interpreters but as adept professionals ready to excel in the dynamic field of legal interpretation.

The course's meticulous structure, coupled with DLMII's signature approach, establishes a pathway for interpreters to enhance their interpretation skills for exam readiness and positions them to thrive in their roles, making a lasting impact in the realm of state-level court interpretation.

Final Mock Exam and Feedback:

The program concludes with a comprehensive final mock exam, providing participants with the opportunity to apply their acquired skills in a simulated exam environment. Additionally, participants have the option to submit their mock exams for instructor feedback, offering valuable insights to further enhance their performance.


This training is Language Neutral, meaning it will be taught in English.

Class Schedule

This 13.5 hour training will take place in a virtual classroom via the Zoom video conferencing platform. 

Class will be held mostly Monday, and Wednesday evenings, except for the final class.

Meet Your Instructor

Claudia Villalba

Claudia E. Villalba is currently a freelance interpreter and interpreter trainer. She holds a Court Interpreter Federal Certification issued by the U.S. Courts, and a State of Florida Court Interpreter Certification. She is also a NBCMI Certified Medical Interpreter, and is Qualified by the Department of Justice to interpret in immigration courts. She has over 25 years of experience working as an interpreter in diverse types of cases. She achieved Master Level approval while she worked for 10 years for the New Jersey Judiciary as a staff interpreter, and subsequently as the supervising court interpreter for the County of Middlesex. For 11 years she was the supervising court interpreter for the 7th Judicial Circuit in the State of Florida. She is a subject matter expert for interpreter certification bodies at both the state and the federal level.

DE LA MORA Institute of Interpretation is a fully remote online school that trains legal and medical interpreters to work in their respective fields.

DLMII was founded in 1998 by Agustín Servin de la Mora from the vision and core belief that interpretation as a chosen profession deserved better educational options. We are constantly striving to stay ahead of the trends and learning styles prevalent in today’s interpreting field through various formats including in-person seminars, live online instruction, and self-paced education.
