Mental Health Management for Interpreters
For SOSi interpreters
The work of an immigration court interpreter requires accuracy, tenacity, and emotional strength. Like with anyone working in a court setting, interpreters will face work-related stress. Interpreters may encounter their own fears and past experiences while interpreting for a respondent on the witness stand. Many times, the respondent will tell the interpreter’s own story; this might be very hard for the interpreter to relive while trying to keep their boundaries and neutrality in the courtroom just like their code of ethics tells them to do.
Join us to learn techniques and tricks to help interpreters during situations like this. Along with self-help methods to use when feeling down after a tough assignment.
