May 18- 19, 2024 | 9 am - 4 pm ET

This seminar covers the background and history of Deaf jurors, the perception of jury duty from the consumer's viewpoint, ethical challenges, perspectives of Deaf jurors from various parties involved, the interpreter's role, duties, and preparation strategies. Participants will practice texts related to jury service.


The Mechanics of Counsel Table Interpreting

June 15, 2024 | 9 am - 4 pm ET

Participants will explore case law demonstrating the court’s view on the role of counsel table interpreters. Review various approaches for handling non-equivalent messages, examine a model for assessing interpreter accuracy, and strategize on correcting inaccurate interpretations. Participants will put this model into practice by analyzing interpreted courtroom testimony.


Preparation Strategies for Court Interpreters

August 24, 2024 | 9 am - 4 pm ET

This interactive seminar will help interpreters recognize the necessary preparation required for various legal assignments.


Interpreting in Criminal Settings

This course provides interpreters an in-depth look at the criminal law environment, from the time of arrest to post-conviction proceedings.

Safe Learning Environment

DE LA MORA Institute of Interpretation's classes and workshops are a safe learning environment. Comments and opinions shared within the class setting will not be published or made available to anyone outside of the original registrants, event coordinators, and those approved by the event sponsor to take the course. If recordings are made of the event, these recordings will only be made available to those approved by the event sponsor to take the course, as a reference material for review for a limited amount of time.
